From Hwy 101 in Novato, take the Atherton Ave exit east 1.7 miles, turn right onto Olive Ave,and left onto Deer Island Ln. The gate is on your right.

Join an Open Space Ranger for a guided walk on the Deer Island Loop Trail as we explore the area's fascinating history while enjoying the sunrise. If the weather cooperates, it will be a great opportunity for stunning photography! Distance: 2.0 miles; elevation gain:130 feet. Please bring multiple layers, water, and a flashlight. Friendly dogs are ok but must be on a leash. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. To confirm the status, check the calendar or call (415) 473-2816 two hours before the event. Registration is required.
